1. Start with balances, not transactions

Net worth is the value of your assets minus your liabilities. You can record those totals from statements and account balances without importing every purchase or connecting a bank account.

In WealthMap, record cash, property, investments and other assets alongside debts. It supports 10 asset categories and 20 currencies. Use the feature overview to check the categories and tools before getting started.

2. Keep assets and debts separate

Record an asset and its associated debt separately. For example, an illustrative property value of €300,000 and an outstanding mortgage of €180,000 contribute €120,000 to net worth. Entering only the €120,000 equity and also subtracting the mortgage would count that debt twice.

Use the outstanding balance for a debt, rather than the original amount borrowed or the monthly repayment. For jointly owned assets, keep the ownership scope consistent across the asset and its related debt. These examples explain record keeping, not how much to borrow or invest.

3. Keep values and currencies comparable

Use a consistent review date where possible. An old property estimate and a current investment balance can still form a recorded total, but they do not describe values measured at the same time.

WealthMap supports market-price and exchange-rate requests to external providers. A market price can update a supported holding’s value; it does not tell the app that you bought or sold units in a connected brokerage account. Review your recorded holdings when your real holdings change. Data may be delayed or unavailable.

4. Treat property indices as context

WealthMap offers property-index comparisons for 40+ countries. An index describes changes in a wider housing market; it cannot inspect your home, account for renovations or guarantee a sale price. Sources, coverage and reporting periods vary.

Keep the distinction between a recorded property value and an index-based estimate clear. An index-based estimate is not an individual property appraisal. See the property and currency FAQ for the product’s coverage and limitations.

5. Review changes over time

Choose a review rhythm you can maintain. Check cash and debt balances against your records, update changes in holdings and review any estimates. A manual tracker is only as complete as the information you keep in it.

Wealth Age needs at least two valid balance snapshots spanning 14 days, plus relevant information. It is a model-based indicator, separate from country net-worth benchmarks. FIRE tools explore scenarios using assumptions; they do not predict an exact retirement date. Read the product FAQs before interpreting either result.

What no bank sync means for privacy

WealthMap does not request bank credentials or require a separate WealthMap account. Records are stored on your device, and supported records can sync through your private iCloud database when available and permitted. External market-data providers receive relevant request identifiers and network information; support receives information you send.

No bank connection does not mean no network activity. The privacy notice explains storage, iCloud, data requests and website analytics. AI briefings run on supported devices and have additional hardware, language and iOS requirements.

Is this approach right for you?

This approach suits people who want a recorded view of assets and debts without connecting financial accounts and are willing to review their balances. If your main need is automatically importing bank transactions or categorising everyday spending, WealthMap is not a bank-connected budgeting service.

WealthMap is an iPhone app by Build Forward, the independent studio run by Ovidiu Dinu in Cork, Ireland. Initial seven-day access requires no subscription purchase. See pricing and purchase terms, or check the official App Store listing for current availability.
